Biomimetics is a very exciting new area of research, technology is very close to being able to model and fabricate structures that nature has been using (and optimising) for millions of years. We are particularly interested in instances of nanostructured surfaces that provide black, white, transparency, mirrors and colour, nature deals with the sun, so all features are broadband and resiliant to all angles of incidence, these features make these future tchnologies most suitable for application to photovoltaics and displays.
