I was born and brought up in the village of Croxley Green, just outside Watford in Hertfordshire. I am currrently living in Southampton, where I am a Research Assistant at the University of Southampton. I am part of the Faculty of Physical and Applied Sciences (FPAS), where I work in Electronics and Computer Science (ECS), as a member of the Web and Internet Science (WAIS) research group.
I have recently completed my PhD and am currently working on the NeuroHub project. My PhD sits across a number of fields including e-Science/e-Research, social networking, Semantic Web technologies and Question-Answering (QA) systems. My thesis is entitled "The Building and Application of a Semantic Platform for an e-Research Society". During the course of my PhD I was heavily involved in the myExperiment project, inparticularly, leading its Semantic Web activities, including designing the myExperiment ontology and co-ordinating the deployment of Linked Data on myExperiment itself. You can read more about my research interests here.
Before starting my PhD, I gained a 1st Class MEng (Hons.) degree in Computer Science also at the University of Southampton. Various examples of the tasks that I undertook for this degree can be found here.
Whilst studying for my undergraduate degree, I was also captain of the University's Tenpin Bowling Club for three years and designed the club website. I have also been captain of the University's Darts Club, redesigned the club website and continue to be a member. I am also currently an active member of the Southampton Open Wireless Network (SOWN) project, that is part of the the Southampton University Wireless Society (SUWS).
