Therein Dr. Koudinov writes: "my major concern would be not [journal toll-access]
cost but the quality of science that one gets in exchange."

Without prejudice as to the validity of the specific ethical issue
that Dr. Koudinov raises against various parties in his open letter,
the American Scientist Open Access Forum is devoted specifically to
open-access concerns rather than journal editorial policies or ethics. So
could I ask that follow-ups on this thread focus only on the open-access
issues rather than the ethical ones? There are other suitable fora for
discussing the ethics of journal contents; this one concerns only how
to provide free access to them.
