With apologies for the unashamed trumpet blowing :-)

I am pleased to announce that STORRE: Stirling Online Research
Repository (http://storre.stir.ac.uk/), has recently committed its
1,000 item to the repository.

The 1,000th item to make it into STORRE was:

Title: Research Frontiers in Wholesale Distribution (Editorial) in
The International Review of Retail, Distribution and Consumer
Research, Special Issue: Research Frontiers in Wholesale
Distribution, Volume 17, Issue 4, pp. 303 - 311
Authors: Quinn, Jim; Sparks, Leigh
ID: http://hdl.handle.net/1893/1187

The whole STORREy
===============
STORRE is a full text only repository that has been up and running at
the University of Stirling since 2005. We focussed initially on
eTheses, with the submission of eTheses to STORRE becoming mandatory
in September 2006. At that time, after a year and a half of
operation, STORRE had a grand total of 37 items.

In April 2008 the University's ePrint Mandate was announced - this
requires all Journal Articles submitted for publication since January
2007 to be deposited in STORRE immediately on acceptance for
publication. By then STORRE had reached 206 items; 143 eTheses (as a
result of the eTheses mandate) and 63 Journal Articles.

Since the ePrint Mandate came into force in September 2008, the rate
of submissions of items to STORRE has risen dramatically from less
than 20 items per month (sometimes much less!) to around 120 items
per month. STORRE has also been expanded to accept other refereed
works, including Book Chapters, Conference Papers, Working Papers,
and Research Reports - we are also currently considering expanding
into non-refereed items.

At the time of writing STORRE contains:

Journal Articles: 588
eTheses:  253
Book Chapters:  55
Conference Papers: 66
Working Papers:  40
Research Reports: 1

- we also have around another 70 items currently being processed in
workflow.

Whilst we are aware that we don't yet have 100% compliance with our
mandate, the key point is that we only managed to get 63 Journal
Articles over the 3 years prior to the announcement of the mandate,
but have got 687 items (excluding eTheses) in the year since (with
the vast majority coming in after the mandate came into force in
September). So the mandate (and all the advocacy!) has definitely had
an effect . . . :-)

So, if there is anyone out there who has been running a repository
for a year and a half which only has 37 items in it, don't give up
:-)

Here's to the next 1,000!
