Introduction
I am a senior research fellow within the Intelligence Agents Multimedia Group at the University of Southampton. I undertook my PhD within the IAM group, under the supervision of Professor Paul Lewis and completed in February 2006.
Currently I am employed on a large European project called LivingKnowledge, and an Italian project called LiveMemories. My role on both of these projects is to research and develop techniques for large scale multimedia analysis and retrieval.
Research Overview
I am interested in Novel, intelligent, techniques for fulfilling human information need in large-scale multimedia corpora, including the development of approaches for multimedia information retrieval, intelligent agents for the automatic annotation of multimedia artefacts, integration of semantic web knowledge technologies, theoretical development of new approaches to machine learning and information retrieval, development of novel user interfaces for multimedia search, retrieval and exploration, computer vision and interpretation, and theoretical computer science in general.
