Metadata changes to XXX papers in a three month period.

The following table shows the changes made from 10-Aug99 through to 3-Nov-99 to papers originally deposited in the hep-th archive during the whole of 1998. The changes to the metadata are listed (output is line-by-line from the diff program). The plus and minus signs after the paper id indictae whether any change have been made to the abstract and whole paper respectively (++ indicates changes to both, -- changes to neither, -+ changes only to the article and +- changes only to the abstract).

Overall, 157 papers were been modified, broken down by month as follows

   2 Jan 1998
   4 Feb 1998
   8 Mar 1998
   3 Apr 1998
   8 May 1998
   6 Jun 1998
   9 Jul 1998
  13 Aug 1998
  10 Sep 1998
  25 Oct 1998
  33 Nov 1998
  36 Dec 1998
Of these changes there were 143 additions of a journal ref and 18 alterations to the existing journal ref. Of the alterations, 13 involved minor changes in spacing, 6 corrections to journal abbreviations and 6 alterations to the year of publication.

Ignoring cross-postings, 146 papers had changes made to their metadata. but only 11% involved a change to the corresponding article.

Comments: Replaced following discussion with Prof. P.C. Vaidya. Updated about GRB 990123. Most transparently shows that trapped surfaces are not allowed by GTR. Hence, this may probably the most appropriate theory to explain origin of ~ 10^{54-55} ergs enengry in GRB 990123. (amitra@apsara.barc.ernet.in)

Comments: Replaced to take care of 2nd round of referee Comments. Emphasizes the fact that the world lines of material particles are timelike, $ds^2 <0$, which, directly implies that $v^2 <1$, and which leads to the central result - no trapped surfaces are formed. Kindly send your criticisms, if any, to amitra@apsara.barc.ernet.in

Date (revised v4): Thu, 23 Sep 1999 13:25:35 GMT (10kb)

Comments: Pointed out that a value of an observed accretion luminosity insignificant compared to what is expected for accretion onto a compact object need not be due to presence of any Event Horizon. Since an Eternally Collapsing Object may internally be collapsing with LOCAL 3-speed v->c, accretion onto such ``hard surfaces'' may indeed generate little luminosity. (amitra@apsara.barc.ernet.in)

Comments: Slightly modified in view of the 2nd round of referee comments. Kindly send your criticisms, if any, to amitra@apsara.barc.ernet.in
