Michael Butler - Potted History
In 1988 I received my Bachelors Degree in Computer Science from
Trinity College, Dublin.
I then spent a few years at the
Programming Research Group
in Oxford, receiving
my M.Sc. in 1989 and my D.Phil. in 1992.
After finishing in Oxford, I spent
some time working for Broadcom in
Dublin which is a telecommunications research company. I then spent 2 years
as a post-doc in Finland
working for the
Programming Methods Group
at the Computer Science Department
of Åbo Akademi University.
I was appointed a Lecturer here at Southampton in 1995. I was promoted to Reader
in July 2000 and appointed Professor in October 2000.
