This is the website of Michael Watkins, a freelance web site designer and student currently studying IT in Organisations at the University of Southampton.

A Little More About Me...

I am a 19 year old student who started university in September 2009. My main interests lie in web design and development and I created my first website about seven years ago. More recently, I have been concentrating on server side development and have been using PHP and MySQL to create my own content management system.

While I usually spend my free time working on something web related, I am also very interested in building remote controlled robots called Antweights. They are small robots (that must weigh less than 150 grams and fit inside a 4 inch cube) that fight each other. To find out what I'm currently up to, take a look at my current projects.

Education & Work Experience

I am a first year undergraduate at the University of Southampton, studying Information Technology in Organisations (ITO) at the School of Electronics and Computer Science (ECS). I studied for my A-Levels at Barton Peveril College in Eastleigh, after completing my GCSEs at Brookfield Community School.

In September 2006, I completed a two week work experience program at the Office for National Statistics in Titchfield, Fareham. During my stay, I was a member of the IT help desk. This involved providing support for employees using the IT systems, as well as installing new PCs and equipment around the office.

Other Interests

As well as building websites and smashing stuff up with my robots I also enjoy watching TV (mostly Top Gear, Have I Got News For You, Not Going Out, Merlin and I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here!) and playing computer games (Quake Live, Sauerbraten, Quake 3 & 4, Halo). I am also interested in bee keeping and have a small bee hive in the garden, and I like hovercraft, game design and sleeping!
