Nicholas Gibbins

I'm a lecturer in the Web and Internet Science group in Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton's . My key areas of research are the infrastructure of the Semantic Web, and the design and development of knowledge-intensive applications.

I'm currently an investigator on the EPSRC-funded EnAKTing project. Prior to this, I was an investigator on the EU-funded TAO (Transitioning Applications to Ontologies) project, where I worked on methodologies for Semantic Web Services, and distributed heterogeneous knowledge repositories, and before that I was a member of the EPSRC-funded Advanced Knowledge Technologies (AKT) project, where I investigated scalable techniques for RDF storage and inference (see the AKT Triplestore), the provision of knowledge services using Semantic Web Services, and the design of novel interfaces for the exploration of Semantic Web data.

My other research interests include open hypertext and hypermedia, and large-scale multiagent systems (see my PhD research).
