Dear Sway School,
We really enjoyed reading your letter. We live in the United States in the state of West Virginia. We are located in the eastern part of the United States. We have mountains in our state. They are called the Appalachian Mountains. We live in the city of Wheeling. It is in the northern tip of the state.
We have a lot of the same customs as you. We would like to know if you decorate a Christmas tree. We are having a Christmas program at school. We will be wearing Santa Claus hats and singing many holiday songs. We have 12 days off for Christmas. We made a Christmas tree in our cafeteria. We all traced our handprints on green paper and then cut them out. We hung them in the shape of a tree. In our hallway we decorated a Christmas tree using our photos. We glued them to ornaments. It look very nice. Our city has a festival of lights. Many visitors come to see our light show. We have most of the display in Oglebay Part. There are about twenty different displays. We will get some postcards and send them to you. Please send us your snail mail address.

On our Christmas we celebrate by running our and yelling Merry Christmas. (I kinda freeze!) After that we tear open the gifts! (Yea) We also get to eat good treats too. My dog, Honey, even gets things. I know what I want.
Jonathan (What a hunk)
Anyway, we put up a tree. We eat pudding(Yuck, Yuck, throwup!) We also eat pumkin roll slices for breakfast. (Now thats good cooking.) My sis always wants to eat. When its Christmas morning mom and dad panic. All the kids wake up extra early to play and see their new toys. Last Christmas my dog got into my stocking somehow and slobbered on all my treats! (Ill kill that dog!) Sometimes we video tape everything.(Hide me) Whats that racquet? Oh, its those Christmas carolors. I got to go my teacher is sending us to art class.

Our Christmas tradition is going to church. Then we go to my great grandmothrs house and eat supper. Then we go up to my grandmas big house and open presents. Then my family goes home. The next morning we wake up and open presents at our house. then my dad comes to get me. I eat supper at my grandmas house. My family opens presents and then we talk about what we got. It is the happiest day of the year.
Henry, age 10
For Christmas we wake up at six oclock and open our stockings. After that we go downstairs and eat breakfast. My dad always makes England pancakes. I always have five or six.
Then we go in the living room and open presents. That usually takes an hour or two hours. We get pretty cool stuff. We take that stuff to our rooms. The rest of the day we play with the stuff we got. At school we have a christmas party. We have it before our Christmas break. We get snacks and drinks. You would like to have Christmas here.

We always get presents but I dont have a brother or sister. I have my pap. He comes over and watches me open my presents. I have 1 dong and 2 cats. My grandparents come over and open their presents. Then we have dinner at my house. then sometimes I play hockey with my cousin. That ends my joyful Christmas
Luc, age 10
On Christmas we sure do remember Jesus in my family. We pray alot, eat holy food, and even have a cake for Jesuss birthday. Well, one Christmas my brothers woke me at 5:00 A. M. and went to wake my littlest brother. My mum and dad hears us. They said, Dont wake him up! We did anyway. We went downstaris. I almost fainted. My eyes were filled with a living room filled with presents.
Kristene, Age 10
On Christmas morning at my house we get up around 6:45 or 7:00. First I go in the livingroom. I get my stocking. Then I go into my parents room and dump everything on their bed. Then I see all of the goodies. I get very surprised. After we do that we put robes or comfortable clothes on and go sit in front of the Christmas tree. We open presents in order sometimes. I am first most of the time. Christmas at my house is great. I love Christmas.
Kara, age10
On Christmas we open up our presents when the grandparents come to our house. We usually have ham and pie.
On Christmas moring we always are escited about opening presents. We have to wait because its too early in the morning. When our grandparents come we eat, open presents, and play games. We have a fun Christmas.

Bruce, age 10
At my family we always put cookies out for Santa. On Christmas morning I am always the first one up. but before Christmas everyone has a lot of work to do. We have to shop for almost every one in our family. It is a lot of work. Then we get a tree and put it in our house. We all wake up and open our presents. After church we open our stocking. And that is how we celebrate Christmas.
Mattie, age 10
Christmas is a wonderful time. Families get together and discuss Christmas presents. Parents are in and out of wrapping paper. Some parents instead of wrapping the present they wrap themselves.
Delicious smells fill the air when mom starts cooking. She cooks pumpkin pies, chicken cranberry sauce, potatoes, llima beans, green beans, cherry pies, and many more things.
Shopping is a little confusing at times- not knowing what people want especially my parents. They want so many things. I like Christmas a lot. I hope you have a better Christmas than last year. Dont worry it will be over in just 19 days.
