| 2003 - | Computer Systems Administrator & Programmer, University of Southampton.
My current tasks involve supporting staff and students on the school helpdesk, dealing with system-related and programming queries. I am also involved in maintaining the teaching workstations and servers. Additionally, I am involved in the academic side, including demonstrating and lecturing as well as designing and implementing of courseworks. |
| 2003 | Research Staff, University of Southampton.
I was involved with installing and configuring a piece of courseware designed to automatically mark Java and C++ courseworks, investigating how it worked, how we could adapt it to our courses and whether it was possible to "cheat" the system. |
| 2001 - 2002 | Systems Support, University of Southampton.
During my university career, I was able to assist in the maintenance of the undergraduate computing labs, where I was able to perform hardware and software installation and configuration, whilst also being able to troubleshoot server and network problems assist with UNIX-related user queries. |
| 2000 - 2003 | Dispensing Assistant, Specsavers Opticians, Southampton.
Having previously worked with a Specsavers store, I have been able to further develop my skills in customer service and become competent at the dispensing of spectacles. My main duties involved advising customers of their options, helping them understand their needs and dealing with their problems and complaints. |
| 1999 - 2001 | Retail Assistant, Specsavers Opticians, Northwich, Cheshire.
Whilst working at Specsavers, I have had the opportunity to continue working with people, whilst also being able to learn some new skills, both in the field of optics and in customer relations. |

| 1993 - 1998 | The Grange School, Hartford, Cheshire 9 GCSEs including English and Mathematics, all at grade B and above |
Alongside my academic qualifications, I have also undertaken some extra-curricular activities, including participation in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, which has given me the opportunity to work in a group and has tested my skills of teamwork and leadership under very arduous conditions.
During my time at the University of Southampton, I had the opportunity to run the "Computer Science Library" - a service run by the students for the benefit of the students. This allowed me to learn more about the UNIX Operating System and computer maintenance.
I have also participated in a Young Enterprise company, allowing me the opportunity to work as part of a team in a business environment.
Additionally, during my final year at university, I was a member of the JCR committee for my Halls of Residence, giving me the opportunity to help organise events and to help the new students get settled in and advise them on University life.
In my spare time, I enjoy playing piano and listening to music. I also maintain a small set of internet services at home, including a web server and a wireless network.
