Talal Rahwan is a research fellow at the Intelligence, Agents, Multimedia (IAM) Group at the five-star rated School of Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom. He received his Ph.D. in 2007 under the supervision of Professor Nicholas R. Jennings. His research interests include mainly: Multi-Agent Systems, Coalition Formation, Combinatorial Optimization, Algorithm Design, Distributed AI, and Knowledge Representation.

Academic Awards:
● 2008: BCS Distinguished Dissertation Award. My Ph.D. Dissertation, titled "Algorithms for Coalition Formation in Multi-Agent Systems", has been selected by the Council of Professors and Heads of Computing (CPHC), in conjunction with the British Computer Society (BCS), as the winner of this prestigious award. The award is presented each year to the most distinguished Ph.D. dissertation submitted in the British Isles in computer science (news item).
● 2007: The Engineer Technology and Innovation Award This prestigious award scheme is intended to recognize the significant contributions being made to the British technology economy by universities and industry working together. ARGUS, one of the projects I was involved in, received the Award for Large Company and University Collaboration (news item).
● 2003: ORS (Overseas Research Scholarship) for a Ph.D. Awarded by the School of Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom. This school is currently ranked 3rd in the UK in computer science and information technology (according to the Guardian). It has been awarded the prestigious best 5* rating by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE).
● 2003: Al-Basel Presidential Award for Academic Achievement The most prestigious academic award for students in Syria. It is awarded to the student ranked 1st in each faculty at Syrian universities, and is convened by the Ministry of Higher Education.
● 2002: Best project Award The project received a grade of 89% (the highest grade among all presented projects in 2002 at the Dept. of Information Technology, University of Aleppo, Syria).
